Are shooting at vehicles, but you can't see them due to the smoke.
But the round thing is the recoil enlarger that have come off the gun and is on it's way forward...

That is a "cup" sitting just in front of the barrel to get a gaspreasure on the barrel to move it along with the action rearward.
The flying piece is this "cup"
