Can the barrel twist rate be too fast?

I am building a custom 308 Winchester bolt action rifle. I have not decided which bullet to shoot but I'm considering a larger 200+ grain Berger bullet for better wind resistance. If I were to install a barrel with a 1 in 10 twist rate, would that possibly cause a problem if I decided to shoot a Berger 168 grain or 155 grain bullet? I have been told that a faster twist rate is fine and slower is bad, but I have seen comments indicating a barrel twist rate can be too fast.

What he said. I have used 10 twist in a few barrels on my 308.

My .308 and the rem700 30-06 I used to have are both 1x10 twist. I think the only 1x11 I had was in my M1a. The 168-175grn love that 1x10. There are the 1x11.25 barrels that were in the MilSpec rifles dunno the "stigma" about that particular twist.

I shoot 110's and 125's in a 1:10" twist.

The likeliest problem from a fast twist is what happens if you combine it with high velocity and weak bullet construction. In severely extreme instances, bullets can disintegrate from way, way, way excessive over-rotation.

It happens, but it's not at all common.

This.

You'll never blow up a bullet with a 308.
