Thinking about buying a 700 SS 5R milspec 308 and was wondering if the X mark pro trigger can be replaced by a jewell or aftermarket trigger.

I was actually surprised by the trigger on my SPS, it's pretty damned decent IMO. Is the jewel really that much better?

Oh Ya !!! If you get a chance to try one, do so. You will be converted. I had one put on that can be set from 1.5oz to 3 lb's.
My smith had me try his, and I said order me one. A little expensive, but well worth it.

you can adjust it as well. Got mine to about 2 lbs.

I went with Timney, and boy, am I glad I got rid of the xmark pro that came with the rifle.
If you do a search, there has been topics that cover Jewel on tactical application. However, if you are just shooting bench at the range, Jewel is very nice.

Change it, don't look back. I have adjusted quite a few X Marks and IMO they are marginal at best.
