I am pretty sure some were. As far as I know, every race participated both as slaves and masters. Anthony Johnson, a slave who gained his freedom after his period of indentured servitude, and went on to own land and slaves. Spoiler alert, he had the same amount of melanin as the people he owned.

you would think if the Civil war was about slavery.....Lincoln would have freed ALL the slaves at the start of the war.....not just those in the south some years after the war started.

If you knew the Constitution was written in 1787, you remember more from Social Studies/Civics than I did...

I'll bet there is a correlation between flying the American flag at your house and your score.
My buddy is running in the Missouri Primary for Senate (he has no chance). He's out door to door campaigning, and I asked him, "How do you know it's a Republican residence and not a Democrat one?" He said if there is a flag out there is a 99.99% chance they will vote in the Republican Primary.
I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense.

When I lived in Brooklyn, I almost hung a “come and take it” flag with an AR out my window but ultimately decided not to. Didn’t need that kind of attention
