Hello,
I live in Europe now and have a work offer in Canada, but as much as I like the quality of life and the propper enviroment to rise kids I would like to know something more about canadian gun laws and how difficult would it be to take mine with me. So I will really apreciatte any information on this subjects.

M.

PS: I also like the US but your immigration laws are a little restrictive.

Well, see there's your problem. You are probably trying to enter the U.S. via Canada. Try the southern border, you shouldn't have any problems there. If fact you'll receive a warm welcome, health insurance, social security (I know you're thinking to yourself that you've never paid into our system. No matter, you go to the front of the line.) and if you play your cards right a nice apartment or other subsidized housing. I fail to see the "restrictive" part.

And as a plus, our guns laws are far less restrictive than America's Hat.

I often wonder who is going to try and utilize that hidden "fifth column" of illegal immigrant/ terroist we have here! If theres 10-15 million illegal mexicans in the US, prob another 2-5 million sympathizer, thats a hell of a guerilla network. I am sure China or North Korea would promise them the whole west coast for them for their allegiance.

The quotes I believe are over 20,000,000. Now WHEN they are legalized there will be process for them to bring there families in (already that process now). I would plan on that number jumping to 120,000,000 pretty quick. Given there are only 300,000,000 and certain cultures don't make too many babies anymore I don't think they'll have to resort to terror to get control.

Take it easy, my jog offer is in Canada and I´m not planning on getting into the US via Canada. Plus if you are so upset about ilegal inmigrants stop talking and do someting about it. Thank´s for your advise.

The job is waiting for an answer, that´s way I´m worried about gun law. It´s the only hobby I have and I don´t want to git it up.

Re: Canadian Gun Law.

In a "nut shell" most "black rifles", like AK's and HK's are prohib, along with pistols with a barrel length less than 4 inches, no .32 or .25 cal, no suppressors, and pepper spray or mace.
The AR family is restricted much like all handguns so gun club membership and a authorization to transport (ATT) to and from the club is required. You will need to get a license if you are staying for longer than 60 days.Purchasing ammo is controlled via the Firearms license.

Most bolt action rifles, and shotguns are non-restricted along with the Swiss Arms PE90.You can use them to hunt without any authorization.Mag capacity for semi-auto center fire rifles is 5 shot. Pistols are 10 shot. There are some AR pistol mags available in the 10 shot range.Check out this website it may help you out, and link ya to whats available in Canada.

Are you immigrating, or are you coming on a work visa? If it was me coming on a work visa, I wouldn't bother trying to keep up my guns in my travels.

Also, depending on where you are located in Europe, Canadian laws may not be that bad from your perspective (please note the qualifier).

Just giving you a hard time. Sounds like you might try the legal route. That's a novel concept. And we can't do anything about our borders. Even when we vote to build a wall it doesn't happen.

Re: Canadian Gun Law.

On average a trip across the border with papers runs about $1200 to $2000 based on how good your fake docs are. Just walking with the coyotes (not the animal) is around $600 unless you mule for them then they will take you for free and a year of your 12 year old daughter as a sex slave in TJ. Not a bad deal considering you could lay in a drainage ditch with a severed head from the drug wars.

My uncle (retired) was a coyote for the border patrol out of El Centro/Mexicali. I never understood his job, they brought the illegals over then arrested them and sent them back. I guess they were trying to work their way up to the ring leaders.

Re: Canadian Gun Law.

A coyote for the border patrol? That is a contradiction in terms. I do most of my shooting very close to the border on BLM land and for the most part the border patrol like it when we shoot there as it gives them time to look in other areas or rest along with the fact that I always take more trash with me than I come with.

Thank's for you help.
I've been there some years ago and really like it, so my intention is to stablish there. First I will see how everything goes for some months and if it goes ok try to fix everything for the importation, so I can ship everything as soon as I can back to get my family. At least that is my plan. I also have to inform myself about changing my driver's license or getting a new one.
