With the GP11 Swiss ammo it's a tack driver,

No you can't. I had the Swiss Products mount on mine for awhile, I shot even better with the scope but I eventually removed it. The rifle just seemed more pure without it.

Sigh...if only it were true...gather round, Children, and listen to a tale of sadness and stupidity.

Several years back, when K-31 could be had cheaply, I received one as a gift. I bought up some equally cheap surplus GP-11 and went to the range. “That shoots pretty good for a rifle with iron sights” was the pronouncement of several other folks at the range. Of course! Why wouldn’t it?

What did I do? I decided to swap the perfectly regulated open sights for an aperature setup. Why? I told you this was a story of stupidity. What did I learn? I’m not a Swiss armorer...and, somehow, I’ve misplaced my index marked front sight. Now I have a very accurate, beautiful and historic rifle, sitting in my safe (and a bunch of ammo) because I couldn’t leave well enough alone and have not figured out how to zero it.

A sadder tale you will not hear today!

Where you get the aperture sights ? They are not usually hard to zero.

Ouch! I almost got that stupid...I ran out of money first, so I didn't modify it. Or, prove how dumb I can get sometimes. I know what you're saying though. I remember when a LOT of surplus rifles were to be had for under $100. And, in those days a lot of them got chopped up for a custom. I paid $75.00 for my first one, and a grand total (shipping and transfer) of $125 for the second one. I sold the second one for $150.

@cupid stunt - without belaboring my stupidity, the sights replace the factory sights. That is to say, elevation adjusted at the rear and windage adjusted at the front. That would mean I need to drift the front sight precisely to zero it. In retrospect, it's easy to understand why the rifle was issued zero (to my understanding). Easiest thing would have been to just swap back to my factory front sight...however, it seems to have run off...too many moves with my tools and such. Just dumb moves on my part all around. I also tired getting one of those leather stock covers at one point as well...and that went disastrously too, unfortunately.

I don't know what sights you bought, but the Swiss Product sights are non gunsmithing sights. Where did you get yours from ?
