Cantilever scope mounts on monolithic rails?

Maybe a silly question, or maybe i'll learn something, but i was wondering why is see so many extended cantilever mounts (not necessarily canted) on rifles with a monolithic rail.
I understand the extended mounts can increase eye relief on certain platforms where the location for the mount is limited (like on a bolt gun), but i am seeing a lot of these kinds of mounts on rifles with plenty of rail space. Is there another reason for using a cantilever mount with a monolithic rail?

If the upper is truly monolithic, then no, there is no benefit to the cantilever mount. Obviously price, slope, aesthetics, etc. might change things.

Can you be more specific about the type of rifle? If it's an AR platform rifle, the top of the upper receiver is the only monolithic part of the rail and it is quite short.

You don't want to mount anything to the railed fore end. They can move and mess up your zero. People use the cantilevers so they can be mounted to the receiver but still be mounted far enough forward for good eye relief.

I thought you were talking about the monolithic uppers made by companies like MEGA. The MEGA maten megalithic upper is a good example. It is all one piece so nothing is going to move on you.

The ability to switch to a different rifle that doesn't offer the continuous rail space. Or it might be easier than getting rings high enough for the objective bell to clear a AR tube.

thanks for the replies. i have seen them on actual monolithic rails (like a Scar).
as suggested, i will assume they either had the mount, might use it on other rifles, or just like having that flexibility.
