There are all sorts of dangers in letting the state get too powerful, but who is really fighting against that? As you may recall, I told you I thought it was important one day a year to stop being a libertarian and vote for the party that is best for liberty. I still believe that. But, now I watch the base of that party twist themselves into the contention that the intent of the Constitution is to, of all things, have the sitting Vice President choose the winner of the Presidential election. At that point I start to agree with you. Nobody really cares about liberty when the spoils of power are on the line.
I continue to believe that freedoms, whether economic, social or otherwise, are the greatest blessing man can have, but I am, daily, less convinced that any of those who purport to defend it are anything other than insane goblins trying to suckle at the teat of power.
