Sidearms & Scatterguns Carbon buildup in M4

I’ve been trying to clean my M4 but it has a lot of funk about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way near the gas port. I’ve tried all the boretech but can’t seem to get it out. Any ideas?

Sorry. Forgot people can’t read my mind. Yeah it’s 2/3 down the barrel. I sent at it with a nylon brush and boretech carbon and bore cleaner. I’ll try and take pictures tonight with my borescope.

If carbon... brake clean is my starting point...

Spray down the barrel and then on a patch
Or brass brush on cleaning rod.... insert 4 inches into bore- spray in carb cleaner/ brake cleaner- run the brush back and forth a dozen times....

Obviously Powder Blaster/ Brake clean eats a lot of plastics... so no plastic jigs with the product....
