As the title says I'm looking at ordering the Caspian race ready receiver with a few of there upgrade options. I have a couple Kimber 1911's (non-railed) and my goal is to swap all the Kimber parts (slide, trigger, ect) on to the Caspian frame and I want to know if this is possible to do without any major fitting issue's???

thanks

Re: caspian 1911 race ready recon reciever

and yes I did read in the q&a section where they state there frames fit there slides, but I know I've seen multiple guns for sale with caspian frames with different slides.

Re: caspian 1911 race ready recon reciever

Fuck no, you cannot assemble a 1911 from the parts of another 1911 without re-fitting everything. NOTHING on the 1911 is "drop in."

Fortunately, it's highly unlikely that the slide will even fit on the frame, so they have already succeeded in saving you from yourself.

Re: caspian 1911 race ready recon reciever

Is your kimber a series 1 or 2? If it's a 2 don't forget to remove the additional parts in the slide, leave them out of the frame. Might as well get a new ejector and grip safety as well unless you wanna fit the kimber gs to the caspian frame. Those are nice frames too btw. Did one on a race ready recon frame and it was a beaut!
ETA: Why not just get a rail installed on your kimber? Get the frame checkered while you're at it too!

Re: caspian 1911 race ready recon reciever

I was looking at the single stack frame, and my kimber's are series 1. I looked at getting the frame rail add on for the kimber but once I started looking at the caspian frames I liked the idea/look of going that route. sounds like its more of a project then I thought it would be.

I received this gem in my inbox from the OP:

Some people on here ask a lot of stupid ass questions, some people on here ask questions with the goal of getting some honest feed back from people that actually know what the hell there talking about.
for future reference, when a guy doesn't know much of anything about 1911's, such as myself, and posts a honest question on here to get some info, and you feel the need to post a smart ass comment, you might as well pull your lower lip of your head and swallow next time. </div></div>

Apparently it's my fault that it's 2012 and he can't hit the library and find a shop manual, or even Google and read.

OP,

If your end goal is to have a railed 1911, the market has already provided mass produced ones.
