anyone use cast bullets for practice and to what range where they used
I shoot 185 gr cast bullets at 1750 fps out of my
TRG22 and at 200 yards get under 1 inch groups
unfortunately I don't have access to a bigger range would like to know if anyone has experience past 200 yards with cast bullets
thank Canuck

Re: cast bullet

Cast 240 RN's from 44mag out to 200yd for plinking practice.

Cast 180gr FP's from my 260 out to 400yd at subsonic speeds, wind drift is akin to shooting 1100+ with the 260 normally then.

I use cast 150 FP's from my 30-30 as a plinking and hunting load at 1700 fps. Effectively no recoil and does a decent job on deer sized game at 100ish yards.

Lots and lots of 220RN's from my 30-06 and 7.62x54R at subsonic speeds for testing, plinking, development work.

The groups you're getting with those at 200yd are very good. Is the mould you're using a nose pour style or a base pour? I'm assuming that you're running a gas check, is that right?
