Hey everyone just picked up my new CDX-50 tremor 50cal looking for a scope recommendation. Trying to reach out 1500 yards. Not trying to spend a fortune.

When you say “not a fortune”, what does that mean?

In your place, I’d go down this list as far as you can afford. Yes there’s a giant gap between the Razor Gen II and the ATACR; I don’t think there’s anything in the middle worth the cost over the Razor. You might get lucky with a used Schmidt and Bender, though, which would be worth it.

Priorities:
  1. Hold zero through recoil
  2. Useful zoom range
  3. Usable reticle choices
  4. Glass clarity
$300 - SWFA SS 12x42
$700 - Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25
$850 - Athlon Midas TAC 5-25
$1100 - Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30
$1300 - Athlon Cronus B
$1800 - Vortex Razor Gen II 4.5-27
$3000 - Nightforce ATACR 7-35 - elevation for days and excellent glass
$3600 - Zero Compromise ZC527 - secondish best scope in the world, more dialable elevation than the Tangent
$4700 - Tangent Theta TT525P - best scope in the world

The best bang for the buck is the 4.5X27 Gen II built like a tank. The big thing for me is the if it fails Vortex in a no brainier. The other new scope is the March high power. Also you definitely want a 1 pieces mount for what ever scope you get.
Question what MOA rail did you go with on the rifle? I went 40 MOA on my Cadex Shadow 375ct and the ERA-TAC adjustable mount. I ended up putting to MOA in the mount for a total of 50MOA and I was able to zero my S&B 3x27 at 100 yards.

I strongly recommend against SFP scopes if you’re going to be adjusting or holding for wind based on spotting your own previous shots at any zoom other than the one the reticle is based on.

Honestly, unless field of view and low weight are your biggest concerns I don’t think there’s a reason to go SFP at all with modern scopes.

I put a pre-owned TT 5-25 on mine. Bought of the hide for 3900!!!
