Depends on the stock, some will hold up to baking on Ceracoat, some wont.
Hey all,
Figure this is the place to ask if Cerakote on a rifle stock is a good idea or a bad idea? Will it hold up?
Why are you set on cerakote? Polane is a better choice for stocks (no heat curing), and has so much more of a color selection.

Duracoat is simply watered down polane; it does just fine, and I have personally painted a few dozen stocks with it with great results. I don't personally have a source for polane, but I know guys who buy it by the gallon and I can ask around. For small work though, you're better off just buying duracoat.Do you have a decent source for polane? I have used duracoat, and was pretty happy with it.
Cerakote makes a decent amount of colors these days, but duracoat makes over a hundred. Cerakote works great on metal but for stock work I prefer duracoat. How difficult is it to get a color that accurately matches a Cerakote color?
Here you go Novak77. This is from short action customs' website. Mark rebarreled my 42, but I painted this stock back in 2010 with 4 color scheme duracoat, and 8 years later it is still in great shape. This pic was taken in '16:
