Since Long Rifles is having their current group buy and a great deal on cerakoting, i'm considering getting my rifle done.

I have a polished action and barrel. I hunt with this gun so i would like to tone it down before fall deer season. I've considered having it coated or just spray painting it.

Questions:

Rifle is already bedded in stock, will cerakoting the action affect bedding, IE: add any thickness and require rebedding?

Should i have the bolt and inside of the action cerakoted (not even sure coating this inside of the action on a barreled action is possible). I want to keep the action smooth as possible and don't want the action to change in feel really. The bolt looks like its been bead blasted or something so its not shiny, so not a big deal if the bolt or inside of the action can't be coated.

I also thought about spray painting my barreled action, but i wasn't sure spray paint would stick to a polished action and barrel.

Any other good options out there?

I have 3 rifles ceracoated all of my actions are coated to match the barrel, inside and also bolt is coated. I don't think it should affect your bedding as the coating is verrrrry thin it also will not affect the smoothness if anything it will help.

I have a similar response with one thing to add. The action will probably feel a touch "stickier" at first simply because of the minor thickness of the Cerakote and there seems to be more friction between Cerakote and Cerakote vs steel on steel. This all goes away pretty quick though as the Cerakote wears off the wear points in the action and goes back down to steel. I don't hesitate to have the bolt and inside of actions done.

I do Cerakote and find Cerakote has excellent lubricity and you should never find it tight or "sticky". I even Cerakote AR BCG's. proper application should be 1mil thick which will not affect your bedding. It should just drop right in. The corrosion protection alone makes it worth doing motto mention the custom color choices. I Cerakote the action, barrel, comp, bolt and bolt handle and even the base and rings. The only thing I don't coat is the bolt face. It's too notch stuff if applied correctly.

you may not get it back by then. they hit their goal to hit the lowest price point 126 I believe. that was a while back, so i'm sure the # is more. they are currently up to the 60th person in line. i may be wrong but just a thought.
