I know, I know. RRS or GTFO, stop buying Chineseium. I'd love to, but that's not in the budget. If/when I am able to shoot enough to justify it, I'd love to get the full RRS Anvil 30 setup, and I'm sure it would be way better. But today is not that day.

Instead, I got an Innorel ST344C tripod and a $60 no name arca/picatinny clamp ball head off eBay. The ball head is a little janky in that the clamp needs to be widened to clamp properly on Arca from where it clamps on picatinny, but other than that it works fine.

Shockingly it holds my 16 lb Tikka in this cantilever position, after I crank down on the tension lever. For my AR it's effortless, light tension and it holds no problem. The tripod seems really sturdy, but I haven't put it through much so far. I do need to get a flat plate to replace the bowl adapter as for some reason that wasn't included, and figure out how to tap that and the ball head to prevent rotation, but I don't think that should be too hard.

For $280 all in ($220 for the tripod, used from Innorel via Amazon and $60 for the clamp) I'm really happy with it.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention:
I use a RRS series 3 with Anvil-30 for a lot of stuff, but before RRS existed I used, and still use, a Swarovski carbon fiber tripod with picatinny rail adapters, Hog Saddle Mod 8 etc; recently to prevent its rotation, I added an Anvil-30 to the Swarovski and used a shoulder bolt to fasten into the head of the tripod; the diameter of the RRS exceeded that of the existing threaded sites on the tripod so I milled a mortise (relief) into the base of the RRS, touched up with Aluma-Black, to prohibit its rotation when articulating the RRS with a firearm attached. IF you can't use a threaded fastener consider a simple thru roll pin to secure the tripod base to the firearm mount.

I have the same tripod but with the Innorel 52mm ball head. It’s a good setup. Very sturdy, not too heavy and affordable.
