Traded my Springer Operator for this new unfired Kel Tec RFB 24" Hunter. I have not shot it yet but man is it cool. Should get some decent velocities out of the 24" barrel with handloads. I'm going to try and hit some steel at 1K this weekend with it. Should be interesting.

I have an ADM Recon mount with two scope options. One is a Vortex PST 1-4 and the other is a Primary Arms 4-16-44 Il Mil dot. The Vortex will be the primary since I see this as a 300k and in hunting rifle. You think I'll need the bigger glass for 1K? Anyone hit 1K steel with a 4x regularly?

I'm also going to Cerakote it. What colors you think?

Nice score there! Should make a nice hunting setup. I would guess shooting 1k with 4x is possible if you have really good eyesight and a good sized target painted brightly. It would be more of a novelty though, just to see if you can do it, IMO. I've read good things about the primary arms for a budget scope, time would tell if it could live atop a .308 for long. For some crazy reason I'm diggin Burnt Bronze Cerekote lately, it seems like a really cool shade to me. Nice rifle! I wish Keltec could keep up production fast enough for their guns to be more commonly available.

Got to finally shoot the RFB but only at 100. I could not make it up to the long range. I was amazed at how accurate it is. Just does not seem natural shooting a 24" barrel without having alot of rifle in front of you. It takes some getting used to because you have so little real estate up front to hold when shooting offhand. Off the bag it was certainly sub MOA at 100 shooting some loads worked up for my Mega. 175 SMK over XBR8208 in LC brass. I'm sure it will do better when I do a decent load workup. I did not take any pics of targets because I was too lazy to walk down when I was done.) I did decide I was going to put a red dot on it and keep it as a pure short range hunting and CQB type rifle. It's design is not conducive to putting a bipod on it.

For 1k, I'd definitely use the PA 4-16x. A target at 1000yds through a 4x scope will look the same as the target unmagnified at 250yds. For accurate hits, I find the 4x to be lacking at that range.
