Anybody found good manufacturers, or ANY for that matter for (16", specifically) chrome lined, light-weight profile AR barrels that will fit Remington, Fulton, DPMS, etc. upper receivers? I know "precision chrome lined" sounds weird, but I have used chrome-lined "precision" rifle barrels made from good blanks that met my accuracy requirements.

Chrome lined and accuracy don't really go together. Yes you can get a chrome lined barrel that shoots well but it is sort of crap shoot. So do and some don't, it really isn't a matter of the quality of the blank and more a matter of how consistent the chrome lining is and that is something that can't be controlled. What is it you are looking or thinking you will gain with a chrome lined barrel?

Re: Chrome lined, light-weight profile .308 AR barrels

I've got a Fulton (Actually Kreiger Criterion line) 18" chrome-lined light weight profile barrel on a DPMS/Fultonstein build I made this year. Most of my bolt action precision shooting has been done on an FN SPR with "precision chrome" lined barrel. Some quality manufacturers seem to have figured out how to consistently apply chrome lining to a slightly over-bored barrel.

I like .308 AR blasters. I like short light weight barrels on blasters, especially .308s that are already heavy and long to begin with. I like chrome lining on blasters. They seem to extract better when dirty, and I am more comfortable with less maintenance on a chrome lined barrel than on a non-chrome lined barrel. Also, blasters get higher round counts between cleaning and just in general, which makes a more wear-resistant chrome-lined barrel a better option.

Armalites are a little different - Modified M14 mags as apposed to SR25 style mags, angled rear receiver profile instead of round, and I have heard, but cannot confirm that the Bolt/BCG and barrel threads are different.

Only Armilite Make light weight (relativly speaking) Chrome lined barrels. I would go with a S/S barrel and have it profiled down bye ADCO. Or Fluted bye them.

Not the answer I was looking for, sorry

There must be SOMEONE, somewhere....

Anybody else?

This is probably going to get all kinds of inconclusive answers, like it always seems to, but has anyone HERE put AR10/Noveske barrels on DPMS/Fulton/GAP/Remington R25 uppers?

Re: Chrome lined, light-weight profile .308 AR barrels

The difference between DPMS/KAC and AR-10/Armalite barrels is the extension. If you really must have chrome lined then you can get an 308 AR barrel and swap the extension.

I have heard this, but I have also heard that the OD of the barrel nuts is slightly different, and that the feed ramps are different, too. Can you personally verify of refute this? anybody else?
