Gunsmithing CIP magazine - long action modifications??

What is your COAL? I was running AICS CIP length mags in a KRG whiskey 3. .300 win mag Berger 215 at 3.6". I had problems with the tip of the bullet going under the feed ramp of the rifle. I made my own binder plates.

Had the same sort of issue with a 300 WSM running 208g ELD match, my OAL was over COAL but accuracy was good. I milled a semi circular slot in the feed ramp and machined the tips down on my bullets so they fitted the mag…works a treat, no loss of performance.

I had the same issue with my whiskey 3! I gave up on mine for years thinking I needed to trim my feed ramp or use non-cip mags, but I finally got the magazine position right after much frustration. My chassis required quite a bit of custom fitting of the plastic parts with a dremel and sandpaper to get the magazine to sit where it should. I've been meaning to make a post showing what I did to fix it because it works great now.

It really depends on where the magwell sits in your stock in relation to the cut in the bottom of the action. I made a stock for my 300 PRC and positioned the mag so it sits equally each side of the cut on the action, it fits and feeds without any modifications to the action. The action was originally a long action non-magnum.
