Clarence Thomas hospitalized

Thinking more on this....
Doesn't it seem....convenient ?
Down right fortuitous even.

After Justice Scalia's questionable death, I think it's safe to say we are all on edge anytime we hear of a Conservative Justice just happening to have a health issue out of nowhere.

The reports I've read say it's an "infection." He's being treated with Antibiotics and the symptoms are abating. He has stated he will participate in the next set of cases even if he misses some days of arguments.

Nothing will stop this man.
Until they suffocate him like Scalia.

suspicious considering all the negative news about his wife's political postings. They are hoping on Biden administration to get a surprise second nomination before mid-terms

Certain people in this world get hospitalized for something that your doc would write you a script for a z-pak for and send you on your way...

Well - he's nearly 74. There was a day I'd call the doc and get that z-pak and be told to take it easy for a while. I'm getting close to his age, but not quite there, and I don't recover from a walk to the mailbox at the end of the driveway as quickly as I once did. I don't gamble with the small aches and pains because they could be harbingers of big aches and pains. Kudos to him for getting it taken care of quickly and getting back to work.

this shit has been out of hand a long time. you start getting up there in age, why take chances? God bless him, but he shoulda went while trump was in. ginsberg got greedy, and look how that happened. i tell ya, if'n i was in my 60's, and i had done my bit, i'd pull out and let someone else carry that torch while i enjoyed my life.

Thomas is one of those guys that is going to be very hard to replace.

Let's not write him off just yet. Heck, I hope I'm as healthy as he is when I'm 74. Do we know if he has any "baseline" medical issues going on? RBG, of course, had fought 2 bouts with cancer. I think, perhaps she should have retired earlier, but if it had to happen this way, I'm happy Pres. Trump was in office when it did happen for RBG.

Anyway, let's wish Justice Thomas a speedy recovery and a quick return to the bench.

I wish I could agree with you, but Trump’s SC appointees have by and large sucked. I remember some issues with the election they seriously fucked up on.

perhaps you would have been happier with hillary's appointees....because that is the only other option you would have had. i agree to a point.....i havent been doing backflips over how his appointees have done. but they could be worse.....bush really fucked us a good one with roberts. makes you wonder how bad his other pick would have been...the one where he said "trust me".....yeah....right motherfucker.

I would have been happier if they would have judged the way they talked when they were being raked over the coals during the nomination process. And I am not totally convinced that Roberts wasn't put there to be exactly what he is.

I've always thought that somebody has some really juicy photos of Roberts..... just laying in wait for when he really "F"s up.

He might have struck around because he suspected that there would be another Kavenaugh or Barrett taking his place. Otherwise, I completely agree with your stance; put in 30 solid years of work and step aside at a time of one's own choosing.

I don't think his work is done, yet. He has to participate in all the 2A stuff that's coming down, and we need him there for that. Hopefully, we can start to work on that backlog after Biden is gone, perhaps even before then.

When he gets to his early - mid 80's (or develops some major illness), then we can think about retirement. Not before then.

Newsmax is reporting that, per a SCOTUS source, Justice Thomas was released from the hospital this morning. No further details, but he was released from the hospital... recovered, or recovering sufficiently to be released.

Please make no mistake - I want the guy to stick around as long as possible, because I think he is literally unreplaceable. He got shit right that even Scalia didn't.

Unfortunately, he's faced with two choices: 1) die during a Dem presidential term and get replaced with a leftist judge; or 2) retire during a Repub presidential term and face roughly a 67% chance of being replaced with a right-leaning bozo (odds extrapolated from Trump's track record at the moment, which may get better as time goes on).

Well, if thse are the only two choices, then I'd go with the latter (retire while a republican is in office). But I'd say at the end of that republicans 8 years in office, maybe. But I'd go for a 3rd choice. Stay in office at least another 10-12 years, regardless of who's in office. If Pres. Trump is re-elected, and then maybe DeSantis goes in for 2 terms, we'd have a good 12 years, and then he can retire in his early 80's.

suspicious considering all the negative news about his wife's political postings.

I posted that "negative news" regarding his wife over a month ago - same time they were going after Cawthorne "eligibility for office". They said he would have to recuse himself due to "conflict of interest" (I know the irony - crackhead sons involved in foreign bioterrorism labs). They are now trying that on Marjorie Taylor Greene. They are trying to weaken any remaining republicans that might not "go with the swamp".

That being said, I do fear for Clarence Thomas life. I hope he has is own PSD, not SS, and own doctors. I pray to God he did not get the shot. When I heard "infection" that was my first thought, weakened immune system (although he is of age range to just get a community acquired pneumonia or UTI/prostatitis). We really must pray for this man. Our Supreme Court will be so worthless they won't need to pack it without him.

From Portajohn Feb. 8:
We know hands-down the strongest pro-Constitutionalist member of SCOTUS is Clarence Thomas. So, how can they get him to "recuse" himself out of "conflict of interest" or face impeachment on the January 6 AND further gun control legislation sooner to be ran down our throats instead of dealing with the issue of weak left DA's failure to prosecute? They are calling out this wife, Ginny Thomas, as an "activist"...the hypocrisy here is absurd given the conflicts of interest in the executive and legislative branches. But this is going to be their next "approach" to continue to prevent Trump from running, continue and justify the abuse of Jan. 6 protestors, and allow executive orders in gun control to get through...
