I have a new 700p that I want to take really good care of and treat it like a good child. What products/lubes/solvents do you suggest to be used to clean/protect it? If possible provide methods of cleaning or how you do it.

Re: Cleaning Products

I would suggest Shooters Choice. As for a method....Well that's up to you some people scrub the crap out the barrel some don't. It is a topic that I'm not sure if there will ever be an answer.

And change the search date past 1 week. This has been covered in great detail and there's not really a consensus about how much. A good bit of people, myself included, clean the outside with a jewelers rag and keep the bolt lugs lubed. Otherwise I leave it alone until the accuracy falls off (2500 rounds and it hasn't happened yet).

How? If you are talking about incorrect cleaning using poor tools and methods then that's clearly just abusing it and has nothing to do with the maintaining your gun. Like using glass cleaner to clean your scope lenses. It's the same thing.

Re: Cleaning Products

this, below, is a good tool for searching here. re cleaning; i agree that many shooters do more damage than good (bad technique, and/or cleaning to often). search, but whatever you do, get a good coated rod, and rod guide, and i use attachments that are either plastic, or bronze, no steel parts at all.
