Anyone running smaller caliber trainers and have them set up as close as possible to your AI?

What triggers have you found that have as good a break as the factory AI trigger?

Running some Huber’s now and working on tweaking them, but the AI trigger breaks perfectly and seems hard to mimic.

Never met another trigger like the factory AI, but if you get the competition trigger (it’s worth it) you can get a CG model 22 for a 700 which is the same trigger. You can even get it with the dovetail on the bottom so that you can run an AI shoe.

I tried the comp trigger and personally preferred the factory.

I may just go with the CG so I can at least run the AI shoe.

Cadex trigger is close. No overtravel like on an AI though.

Not a big deal. The only time I feel the overtravel is when I occasionally will be dry firing, get caught up on something and forget to run the bolt.

I actually will walk away on purpose sometimes and then come back later and hope I forgot. I noticed one time I almost jerked trigger anticipating the break. So now I try to use the overtravel to my advantage. Do a slow press all the way back without the bolt cocked.

Otherwise, in live or dryfire, I stop as soon as it brakes and never notice.

Looks like the Cadex, CG, and Tubb are worth checking into

No experience with the Tubb, but I do know that depending on stock/chassis it’s going into you’ll need to fit it. The cadex is super easy to adjust each stage individually and you can move the shoe back or forward.

I really like the cg mod 22 I put in my new nucleus build; it allows ample over travel like the factory AI trigger and the stage transition and break feels great. It is one of the new dovetail models that can accept the factory AI trigger shoe, but a word of warning... A factory AI trigger shoe is $107(!!!). I bought one and wish I hadn't, the standard shoe included with the dovetail mod 22 is damn close to the shape and feel of the factory AI shoe.

The CG is quite a bit lighter than the factory AI triggers though; perhaps Tom can install heavier springs on request? There is a mention of a an optional heavy first stage spring in the instructions, although mine did not include one.
