CMP M40 Rifle New in wrap

I’m pretty sure the 625xxx serial number came well before 1996. I had a 1978 serial number that was in the millions.

FWIW, since it was CMP I have no doubt it was real. The above must be a typo. But yeah, for the real deal, this doesn’t surprise me.

But new in wrap lacks any history, deployments, etc. can’t fire it. Can’t take it out of wrap. It’s like these 29 mile 1980 corvettes people buy. Why? As soon as it hits 50 miles... it’s worthless.

Well, it is a unicorn. It is cool. It is investment grade and I get that. But for 1/2 that, you can get one with a deployment history. And that is priceless...

Green scopes were 1st issues . It’s for sure this is an armor rework . Mount looks correct . Scope doesn’t , I have never heard of M40 with that model scope . I have 3 clones myself . You could have built all three of mine for the cost of one at CMP . Best of all I can shoot mine and not loose any value . Mine are worth nothing to anyone , but me . But they sure are fun to show off and shoot . I have 2 walnut stocks remaining and a few sets of mounts and rings I have collected awaiting another build .
