So I saw this on TNVC's site, VERY cool! Normal color with a PVS14! Only problem?

It looks like two bookends on the PVS14. Can't head mount it or weapon mount it that I can tell. But it's still AWESOME. $2000-something.

Won't be long before we have true color NODs. That's gonna be badass. Combine that with thermal overlay HUD and BAM! The total package.

That's wild looking, like a dream. Stars during daytime. The lights. The one TNVC has doesn't look like that but it fits on a 14. So I guess this is what's coming next. Gotta say, I like it.

Harris mentioned having something like this too and they also have that NV unit that has a HUD and can play color video from drones, aircraft, other people, whatever. That's pretty cool too. Looks big, says it weighs less than a 14, I don't see how.

This is color night vision! I know one of the engineers that is working on this. They have perfected it already but it is the size of cinder block. They are trying to get it in a smaller package for helmet mounted use.

It's not a light amplification device, but digital. Have you tried the Color Tac as yet to understand how it performs?

Indeed the Color Tac works WITH a light amplification device, it's (NOT) a digital device to gather light, thus it performs as a normal I^2 NVD, except with color. This flag was taken in near pitch black environment. LE agencies and surveillance teams for evidence collection have really benefited with the advantages Color Tac brings. Future work in "other" platforms is now a reality. ;)

    Hey Vic!

I think Surgeon was just pointing out that there's another color NV product in the works (he said it's the size of a cinder block). Gotta admit, that's a wicked image. If they can fit that in a tube the size of a toilet paper roll they'll be onto something. I was looking at stuff like that and ran across Harris' new stuff. Have you seen the i-aware system? HUD camera displays in the NV FOV?

The one you guys have it pretty neat, costs less and can be used with existing equipment, not to mention it's available now. But I'm right, it is just handheld, correct?

Also got a question for you while I'm thinking of it. With the KAC PVS30, I was reading it uses an ITT Pinnacle tube (I figured it used something different?) and was wondering if you could replace it with white phosphor down the road if/when it needs it?

No I sure haven’t. No matter how it performs, whether it be really well or horrible, until it gets downsized to be used on a helmet comfortably it doesn’t help me.

Yes the one I posted is a form of digital. But digital will someday be the go to night vision. I think it all depends on how long it takes to get that same performance out of a unit 1/4 of the size it is right now.

Said that about 12 years ago with a thing called Supervision when I first reviewed it. Digital has come a long way with Intevac having the most promise over the years with their Digi/I^2 systems.

Till then 95% of all Digi systems suffer in extreme low light . Do some research on your own, I've been watching the tech very closely over the years and was excited 12 years ago on Digi systems when I first tested them in depth vs. I^2 systems. Maybe 10 years from now we will have the best of both worlds, but I said the same thing 12 years ago, and we're still not there yet.
