Hey all! It's that time again. Did a few of these last year and this will be the only one I do this year. Here it goes... Great views, Great company, Great shooting!!!!!! Camping will be up by Tarryall Reservior (about 4 miles south of the dam on Turner Gulch Rd) from 20-22 May. Location as follows:

Location: From the Springs, West on HWY24 through the Ute Pass. Stay on 24 past Florissant. Make a right turn onto County Rd 77 and stay on that for about 28miles. You'll come to Tarryall Reservior. Just before the reservior take Turner Gulch road (left turn) and follow that about four miles. We'll be camping off to the right. Here are grids:

Actual campsite:

Dirt road turn off to site:

A few of us will be going up on Friday...it's a 3 day weekend for me so anyone is willing to come up that night. Plan on staying until Sunday afternoon. Bad news is I'll be PCS'ing soon so this is the last shoot I'm going to be organizing. There's a fire ring up there and plenty of wood to be scavenged. I'll be bringing some steel and cardboard for paper targets as well. We'll set up a rifle range and pistol/rimfire area as well. We'll have targets at known distances and if you want to shoot long range we can figure out your dope. Bring it all. You can access the site by car if you take it easy. One snipershide member had his BMW up there last year. If you're willing bring some food to share. I'll bring some dogs and mountain pies (2 layers of bread with pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni), and some other stuff along with water and some beer. At the least bring food for yourself!

******Please note that alcohol will only be consumed when the firearms are put away. We'll have first aid bags on site but the nearest hospital is an hour away by vehicle so the last thing we want is an accident. Recommend you bring a tent, decent sleeping bag (nights are still pretty chilly up there), and a good amount of water as well.

Don't forget your ammo! There will be plenty of shooting to be had. Post up if you're coming or have questions. Here's a few pics from previous shoots:

Is this public land? I wish I could make it out there but I won't be able to. If this is public land IE NF I'd like to check out the rules they have in place to see if it would be an alternative place for me to shoot at night sometimes. The range I go to in Fountain is infested with cactus and sage brush. Really makes long range shooting a bitch.

Re: Colorado Members Shoot (Tarryall area 20-22 May)..

Yes, it is public land. It's a bit of a drive from the Springs/Falcon area. Great camping. Worst part of the area this time of year is the dirt bikers, though that isn't an issue for night shooting. If you find you forgot something food related, there is a general store in Lake George which isn't too far of a drive from the campsite (30ish miles). Great area.

Also, there is a range down off exit 122, and thus closer to you, that is private and allows night shooting if you aren't looking to hunt.

Here is the info on that range/club with the rules showing nighttime shooting is allowed(range rule #9): http://www.frontiersportsman.org/fountain-range-rules.php

Better bring your Goretex! It's been raining and snowing like crazy here lately. Elevations above 8k have snow right now.

How did the shoot go? That is a amazing area I use to Jeep in that area all the time a few years ago.
