Sidearms & Scatterguns Colt 1911-USGI-1918

I traded for this a while back. I need some original double-diamond grips for it. The serial number is #4227xx this should be June or July of 1918. It still has a most of the original black finish and the 2 tone magazine.

Nice find you should be able to get the grip's from Colt ?

You shot it yet , how did it go ?

oh wait no grip's well throw some on it and take it to the range .

There's one at a local pawn shop but I doubt they'd let me just buy the grips... Nice score!

Nice looking pistol! Hard to tell from the pic but the finish looks really good for a 1918 pistol. Was it an arsenal rebuild?

This 1911 is not an arsenal rebuild. All the local experts that have seen have been very impressed. A friend of mine has one that has a serial number very close to mine. We took off his grips today and under one of them the finish was exactly like my whole pistol.

Nice looking pistol- it's interesting to see how the frame lightening cut was made with two large passes of an end mill back then.

Pogey, the seller and the buyer both walked away satisfied. I have found a set of original grips, just waiting on them to arrive.
