Colt m4a1

Do any of you guys know what model colt actually says m4a1 on the side, a buddy of mine has one and that's all it say's there is no 6920 carbine or anything else on there.
I'm wanting to pick one ups and build a almost mill spec clone, everything but select fire plus a pinned flash hider.

New 6920s and 6933s say "M4 Carbine". There is a limited run of "M4A1 Carbine" marked Colt 6920s with KAC RASs or DD RIS IIs.

I picked up a 6920 from WalMart and it had the same markings as the photo above.

I have a colt le6920 socom, it looks like the one above. Its suppose to be close to the current issue from what i heard.
