im sure theyve been used before to hunt with just for kicks, but altogether, not really.

I knew a guy who hunted with w barrett 50 but only once. Pulverized the deer at 500 yds. There are a lot more reasonable cartridges that will do the job even where long range hunting is the game, and they won't destroy the meat. Getting out to the ranges where the big three calibers are really going to shine gets into the shooters skill vs humane and ethical hunting practices. Doesn't seem very rational to me.
