Thinking about switching my XLR from .308 to .223. If both have same action screw spacing, just a straight swap? Just need to get new mags, right?

If so yes, simply bolt in a new barreled action (appropriate spacing) with a 223 mag, torque and go shoot.
Or if using your current action, you'll need to swap barrels and bolt heads.

Yes, Savage XLR. Also have barreled actions for both. Just wasnt sure if there were any other considerations. Thanks!
As long as both actions have the same bolt spacing and bolt release locations (side or bottom release) then the only thing you will need to change is the magazine. The .223 does require a shorter bolt baffle as Savage puts an extended stop on the 223 bolt baffle to limit bolt throw. Since the AI 223 magazines are longer than the factory 223 internal magazine you will switch it with a 308/300WM bolt baffle.
