I got a notice today of several instances of Chinese counterfeit Surefire batteries causing flashlights to explode. I guess they will copy anything now to make a buck.

The warning cited inferior construction and internal shorting as a cause for the failures.

These were CR123 batteries and they were packaged to look like legit Surefire batteries but upon closer inspection California was misspelled "Colifornia" and there was no date stamp on them.

If this is old news, sorry but thought it was worth passing on if anybody wasn't aware.

welcome to PHX AZ got some asshole running around leaving flashlight bombs for innocent victims to find and turn on to test them.
