Rifle Scopes CQB optics

I have noticed not many posts on the Leupold CQT around.

Just wondering how many run this optic on their rifles.

I have had 3 over the years and missed them very much, so much I aquired another. With that said.. the CQT works better to me than a Eotech with a magnifier or even a c-more or ACOG. The eotech seems to wash out and highest illuminations settings and teh fact that the magnifier isnt a plus to me. Combined with the what if your battery goes dead....

The CQT at least retails the abilty to use with no bateries as a 1-3 scope. The down side... 1/2 MOA clicks ( if you call that a down side) and no reticlke choices.

The NF and S&B CQB optics are great but are above the $1K price point. Just trying to compare apples to apples in the sense of price.

Any opinions out there?

Its hard to beat a good Eotech. The wash out at higher settings is a non issue in CQB situations. It has extremely fast target acquisition and retains all of your peripheral vision. I have had a 553 for several years now and have not needed to replace the batteries. It has been left on to shut itself off nearly every time as well. I dont think battery life is much of an issue.

I'm not saying the others aren't viable options, only that the Eotech is a lot of bang for the buck.

I'll give you that, I've run a C-More for years and never had teh battery let me down. Maybe it's some mental thing with with me and actualy wanting a reticle.

I ran the CQT in Iraq and ended going back to my comp4.

The illumination on the CQT is horrible. In bright light and when using a tac light it becomes nonexistent. So if I am using the illum on a dark target in bright light, I basically have no reticle or dot. This is not good when trying to kill those who are trying to kill you. 3gun or at the range, sure, in real life, its a big fuck my life situation. They should have went with red, the dot size is too large, and it's heavy as hell. For CQB this optic blows.

The Eotech is okay but I dont trust them anymore. Recoil damages the springs in the sight causing damage and the sight turning of and cutting out. The time out also will shut your sight down. That is a definite no go for me. I heard they got this fixed, but I really don't care. I have seen too many problems with them.

Aimpoint comp4 or comp4s is the way to go for CQB. 2moa dot and it always works and holds zero. It works with NVG's and magnifiers perfectly. A lot of guys are starting to use the T1 micros. Lighter weight which is a plus, and works with PVS14 and the 3x magnifier. My life gets trusted to Aimpoint until some one comes out with something better. I am not a brand whore, I use and promote what I think will keep me and my guys alive, not what looks cool or is the new fad. If it doesn't work, it gets sold to someone who won't have to defend theirs or a buddies life with it.

I sold my CQT and went back to an Aimpoint.

Why?

Horrible eye relief, bulky, didn't care for the reticle (center dot size mainly). There are much better 1-4 style optics out there now.

Another vote for the Aimpoint T-1, the TA-11 is a big and relatively heavy optic for CQB, if going the ACOG route I would reccomend a TA-33.

TA33H-G. I ran it on my XCR in a mini 3 gun 2 weeks ago engaging targets at 20 yds. My times were only a tic off my aimpoint on my ar at the same match.

Im a Aimpoint fan myself, I know a lot of guys like Eotechs. When your doing CQB its all about speed and both eyes open. Both work and it comes down to preference really. I was trained Aimpoint in the Army and trust/know it. I tried an EoTech - broke it in 2 days while in Iraq... but hey ... smashing it against an Armored Vehicle might be more than your asking of yours.

Aimpoint. I love the CompM4 and T-1 for CQB. For extended ranges, the Trijicon ACOG RCO.

I think they are great QCB optic one that get over looked a lot. There are a lot of other great 1 to 4 optics out there that probably look more appealing to the average shooter. The Q/CT has to be one of the most robust QCB optics on the market.
