Looking at picking up a beefy fixed blade to throw in the truck and I have been looking at Strider and Crusader Forge. Ive had Strider's and i know they are tanks but wanted to try something diff. Anyone have any experience with any of there knives? Any input would be great

Re: Crusader Forge??

CF is the end of the world type of knife but comes at a hefty price as well. If you want something that can take serious abuse and you're not fussed about looks or finish then you can't go wrong with the following:

Ranger Knives www.rangerknives.com about $100 for a RD6 or RD7

Grayman Knives www.graymanknives.com about $200 for a 6" ground pounder.

I'm a little fussy, so when I bought a ground pounder I wasn't too happy with the finish and the sheath was a bit iffy, but it's very easy to go to Red Hill Sheaths and get yourself a proper kydex sheath for it.

if you get a Crusader Forge then you HAVE to post pics because they're real purdy!

Re: Crusader Forge??

beefy blades......makes me smile ....in a sort of twisted way

got told a story years back about a guy traveling with very large beefy blades......from a paper cutter......read big beefy.

these blades were loose on the floor in the vehicle and when the brakes were applied.....the flew forward and connected with the driver........he wasn't right after that.

Once I find some stocking vendors I will pick one up and attempt a review once I get it.

Re: Crusader Forge??

dude, if you find a stocking vendor then you're a helluva snoop because I don't think there are any in the US. You'll have to go direct and suck up the 3 month wait or get lucky with a private sale. I had an itch to get one of these a while back and just didn't want to wait so never got one.

Re: Crusader Forge??

I had a Crusader Forge on last deployment. Mushroomed the tip of mine pretty bad on some hard wood. Sent it back from Iraq, and had it back in 2 weeks as new. No charge. It was a good blade, but sold it to another Joe on the way out. I now carry my Chris Reeves Pacific.

Re: Crusader Forge??

I pretty much carry a Mad Dog everywhere I go. When I travel to fish or hunt, I take the Panther. When Im going boar hunting or exotic places I take the big boy, Witch Bird. They are expensive but handcrafted and I really dont think anyone can break one under their own power. They are hand crafted and as hard as s tool file. Thats hard to beat in my book.
