I have a CTR-02 that shoots inconsistently. Using Black Hills Blue Box w/77g SMKs I can shoot a bug hole group (n=5) and then ten minutes later it shoots a 4 inch group (at 100 yards). I box tested the scope and it was fine, shot new 66g Black Hills ammo and got roughly the same inconsistency mentioned above. Today, I had a friend shoot the rifle and he got the same results. We changed the scope and put a known good scope on the rifle and had the same issue. Anybody have any ideas about what is going on here? I tend to think there is something mechanically wrong with the rifle but don't know what would account for the 1/2 MOA groups one minute, and then 4 moa groups the next.

Re: CTR-02 issue

Update…. I just heard back from JP rifles & they too agreed that the accuracy was unacceptable. Apparently JP checked for the most obvious culprits and none of those were the issue (exactly what that is I don’t know). In the end, they simply replaced the barrel, reshot it to make sure that it solved the problem and shipped back out today.

I have to say that JP as a whole was a pleasure to deal with.

When I called JP to tell them that there was a problem with the rifle that I purchased less than a year ago, they walked me through the various things that they wanted me to check and do. Once they found that I had done all of those measures they promptly gave me the information necessary to return the rifle. Communication within their own organization as well as the communication they had with me could not have been better.

Although I have yet to receive my rifle back I have to say that not only does JP build incredible rifles but they also have phenomenal customer service.
