It seems to me that 20 or so years ago, there might have been one or two companies making actions. Most fellows shooting in matches were using R700 or Remington XP100 actions that had been trued, rebarreled and restocked. (Myself included, still owning three custom XP100’s) Hunters were using mostly actions taken from their favorite brand of rifle such as Weatherby, Remington or Winchester pre 73.
Now multiple folks are making actions, Really Good Custom Actions. Rifles being durable goods. I marvel at these many small concerns. Can this business model be sustainable? I ask this because the riflemen looking for a nice custom has never had it so good.
