cuting barrel

i have a savage stevens in 308 with a 22 inch barrel was wondering if it is even worth cuting the barrel down what would i gain, pros or cons on this

probably not much difference, maybe a little easier to move around, lose a little velocity with some loads. The biggest thing would be the new crown (and the current crown can probably be recut without shortening the barrel if it really needs it)
