I have a Remington 700 Police that I would like shorter. How much money would it cost to get that done?

Re: Cutting down a barrel

You need to call a smith. It's going to cost what they want to charge.

Some will charge more, some less. It depends on if you want someone local or someone here on the Hide.

You may also try posting in the GUNSMITHING section since many of those guys offer those services.

Re: Cutting down a barrel

I just had my 700 Police chopped to 18.5", threaded and profiled for a silencer by a local smith for $160.

Re: Cutting down a barrel

I paid $55 a few months ago to have a local shop cut a SPS-V 700 down from 26" to 23" and re-crown/re-blue. I dropped off my stainless 223AI at another local shop today to have that one cut down, re-crowned, and have the entire action and bolt blasted. He figured $100 or so.
