I have read several posts about people cutting chrome lined barrel on AR's as well as the FN rifles.

I always figured if you cut through the chrome it would peel/flake.

Any of you guys have any that you have cut? How did it work out?

PDC insert at 3000 rpm might do it without chipping.

You can cut it but no matter how you do it, it will flake. I haven't seen one that didn't start to flake over time.

Thanks Guys

Can the flaking be seen with the naked eye or do you need a bore scope?

Sounds like I am better off shooting this barrel as is till I want to upgrade.

You could sell that barrel and buy a shorter one.

The flaking will start where the cut is and migrate up into the barrel. Sometimes fast sometimes slow. Yes you can see it with your eye.
