I was just thinking a few weeks ago that I would like a 300 blackout barrel for my cva apex. I thought about ordering a .30 barrel from them set up for the apex and then having a smith chamber and thread it at 16". I stopped by their site this afternoon and saw that they now offer one as an option. 16.5" 1:8 threaded 5/8-24. Does anyone have any idea how the break action would sound with suppressed subs? I have a 30p-1 on the way and was thinking that this would make a great hunting setup for 150 yards and under. Any thoughts?

I got my barrel in today. I am still waiting on my thunderbeast, but that will give me time to develop a good subsonic load. Initially I like the barrel. Crown seems a little rough, but I guess shooting it will tell the story.

Yes. It is a Bergara barrel. The only other experience I have with Bergara is the .50 cal muzzleloader barrel I have for the same gun. It holds 1 1/2" at 100.

I realize I am necro-posting here. However, CVA just got in another shipment of the .300 Blackout barrels (~90 barrels). It's been nearly 20 months since the last shipment came into the US from the factory in Italy. They are not listed on the website yet, but you can call and order direct.

Say hello to my little friend....

39.5 inches overall with TBAC 30P-1. Ultimately it will have a Silencerco Octane 45HD on it in another 10-12 months. Range report this weekend.

Same setup as mine. Mine holds 1 Moa at 100 with 220 smk's loaded to 1050 fps. It has a little over 5" to 100 from a 50 yard zero. I also have an osprey 45 but haven't tried it with the blackout. I have the piston and adapter, but just haven't seen the need. I do have a 30PSS waiting approval. It is a little louder, (dealer takes us shooting while we wait), but it is also a lot shorter.

Out of curiosity what is your load recipe? I have some test rounds loaded with 10.6. 10.8, and 11.0gr AA1680 under 208gr & 220gr and a fairly good crimp. I'm headed to the range tomorrow.

If I load to the lands I can get to 11.4 and still be subsonic. When I got my ar I shortened the oal so I could shoot them in either rifle. With the shorter oal, 11.0 is right on the verge with 220smk's. Out of the 16" barrel. They are almost identical out of the 10.5" noveske barrel on my ar.

1680 powder as well. I have briefly tried h110 with supers, but decided to let that idea go. I was going to let an 8yr old girl use the CVA for deer hunting.

Remember by the way...start high with subs and work down. Over pressure is not an issue but under pressure will leave one in the barrel.

Also...do all of your load development without the can on and make sure that no rounds are key holed before screwing the can on. I would hate to see a baffle strike just because something wasn't exactly right starting out.

Thanks for the info. I unfortunately did not have access to a chrono today, but all rounds stabilized (even down to the 10.4 gr AA1680 under the 220gr), and everything with the suppressor went very well. The rifle was a blast to shoot suppressed and yielded ~1.5 MOA @100yds. The L-R was less than 1" but the vertical was 1.5" which likely was me. I'll chrono the 10.8gr under 208gr load next time to see where it actually is. It showed the best accuracy. This is a fun little gun and I can't wait to test it out on some varmints and hogs later this year.
