Cz 452 - what are typical mods to get the most out of it?

I am excited to get a hold of a 452 on the way to me. Likely to be used in small bore silhouette in AZ.

what are some things owners do to get the most out of their setup as far as acurracy?

trigger job? New stock? Bedding? New barrel?

who are some of the go to gunsmiths that specialize with this rifle?

cz custom down the street from me don’t do any work on rifles...

thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Robb

Yodave trigger springs. I make sure the barrel is fully floated. Some actually add a pressure point along the barrel. Mine is incredibly accurate with just the trigger and floating. You will still need to find what it likes. Mine loves Midas + and SK Biathlon Sport.

I did the Yo-Dave trigger spring on mine and it seems to have worked out well.

Dropped the pull weight from 3.5 pounds down to just under one pound.

I'm on the hunt for a better stock though, and hope someone posts some good options here in this thread. MDT has one, but I'm not particularly fond of it. (Actually if I'm honest... I don't like it at all.)

There's an Aeron chassis out of Europe, but I've never seen one for sale here in North America. It's the most appropriate for my needs.

Airguns of Arizona sells some adjustable scope rings so you can set the scope slope exactly how you want it, which is real nice for long range 22 LR work. They're called Eagle Vision Infinity. I just ordered a pair today actually.

I got mine to 15 OZ with the lightest Yodave spring. Breaks like glass.

I assume you want to use your 452 in Hunter class, so you have restrictions on weight, trigger pull and comb height. I'd just do a trigger job to get the pull down to the 2# minimum and maybe bed the action. For the trigger, there are several ways to do it, and you might want to have a look at the stickies on Rimfire Central for some ideas. I personally like the YoDave kit, which will let you both reduce pull wt. and minimize creep for about $20. Installation is a piece of cake if you're even reasonably handy with simple tools. I have YoDave kits on all 4 of my CZ's and I'm pretty fumble-fingered. A lace-on cheek piece might also help, but I don't remember if it's legal or not. I'd shoot the rifle before bedding to see if it really needs it. My 452's are very accurate out of the box.

do you mind saying what kind of groups you're getting, at what distances and # of shots and what ammo is working best for you? thanks!

Here's me shooting pop cans from 275 yards.

A bit of mirage out there that day.

I traced the ignition issues to a dirty firing pin assembly. After I cleaned it everything settled down.

I have 2 452's and 2 455's. My 452's are a full stock and an Ultralux. Sorry I can't be more definitive, but I don't shoot groups with these guns. (Actually, I don't much shoot groups at all. I shoot for score.) The Ultralux is my offhand iron sight gun and the FS has become kind of a safe queen over the years. I do feel safe in saying they are both MOA shooters, but I don't have any hard data to support that. The gun I shoot the most (besides my BR guns) is my 455 Tacticool, but quoting group sizes on this one wouldn't be very helpful since it has a Lilja barrel and has been bedded, It routinely shoots in the 2's & 3's when I do shoot groups, but that's not often. Sorry I can't be more helpful. My ammo of choice for all these guns is Center-X, but SK Pistol Match and Long Range seem to shoot well too, but I haven't shot a lot of these.

Best mod I did was the T1x mod.
60 degree bolt lift is the way to go.

Otherwise make sure barrel is free floated ,get a YoDave trigger kit and find ammo it likes, everything else is just nice to have.
Although one could argue a better stock/chassis is a big improvement, my standard American stock does just fine though.

What's the barrel length on your Vudoo?

Bob at Accuracy Speaks over at Usery Pass has an excellent handle on tuning up the 452. He is a small bore specialist, stoning the internals of the bolt smooths the action a lot. My 452 shoots like this with CCI at 50yrds 5 shots pretty regularly. I’m afraid to touch anything on it right now for fear of losing accuracy. Mine only has maybe 200 rounds through so it’s not even broken in. That’s a 2-7x Leupold rimfire with Burris rings they fit really well, the rings were on the shelf at Sportsmen’s on Greenfield. I took the rifle in and they let me check fitment/bolt handle clearance with the scope. Be sure to break down and clean/rust prevention the bolt internals with CorrisionX really thin wiped down work’s excellent. The bare metal parts in CZ’s get touch rust really really easy even in AZ! Lastly do yourself a favor put in an order for the DIP Inc extended mag release and the metal mag well replacement do them both at the same time. The plastic CZ uses in that mag well is total garbage. Cheers, happy shooting a rifle that has a hammer forged barrel your great-great grandchildren won’t wear out!

Great video on bolt break down, I stoned the flat portion of the firing pin you’ll see the wear lines across the milling machine marks. You’ll also want to just slightly polish a radius on the bottom of the front of the bolt it helps to not scratch the round sitting in the top of the magazine. Experiment run the bolt chamber a live round then eject it you’ll see the mark. A little stoning and polishing with a dremel works wonders.

Bedding made a big difference on how mine shot. It was in a Boyd’s stock (which was fairly poorly made) and it never shot right until I bedded it.

Was a tack driver after that.
