Looking for a Trainer, I Iike the stock on the CZ455 it matches up to what I have on my GAP.

How much do you need to put into the CZ to get it to really shoot like the Anschutz?

Has anyone worked with the Anschutz custom shop to see if they will change the stocks on the 1416 AV ?

What does the 455 need to get it to shoot well?

Limited time to tinker, should I get the Anschutz and be done with it?

A properly torqued CZ will shoot really well if you spend time looking for what ammo it likes. A good bedding job would probably help it as well. If you ever wanted to swap to a chassis CZ has quite a few options now. Never had an Annie so I can't speak to it, but I would imagine you wouldn't regret going that direction. I love the swept back bolt they have on their rifles.

The ANA custom shop does batches of 1416s in Manners T6 stocks, I believe. May be worth contacting them to find out if any are currently available.

Anschutz custom shop had me contact Manners directly to see if they would inlay to the T4 version. Right now Anschutz Custom shop is only doing the T6, so I am waiting on the reply from Manners. I have shot with the Anschutz 1907 match rifles before, so I know they shoot without any tinkering, just find the right load and lot, my 1907 loves R50 over Eley, with kids, and work I just want to get to the range and shoot.

Go with the CZ455 Varmint Trainer. I have one, and its basically the Remington 700 of the 22LR rifles. You can just about find any after market product for this rifle.

Full done up Anschutz T6 with match barrel etc

cz is over $1000 less to do and both are equal in accuracy. The Annie will have a better trigger, smoother bolt, and overall better fit and finish on the action.

At Shot Show Anschutz had a nice custom shop action a Manners stock .Very nice. As I recall I think the retail was around $1700.

Own both a CZ 455 VPT and an Annie 64 R Trainer. I'm shooting both rifles in stock configurations and at my skill level the rifles produce more or less equal results. The Annie is *easier* to shoot well in a macro sense.

If the CZ matches up to your centerfire setup most closely...put the price difference between the two into better glass and more ammo

I have been looking at the 54 action, still waiting on response from Manners if they will set up a stock for the T4 instead of a T6. I was looking at the 1710 and 1712 AV but they are not specific to what action is in those, based on the 17 prefix I think the 54, but I don't know.

Scroll about 2/3 of the way down this page:

The 1710 and 1712 model variants are based on the model 54 action.

Well, here is a little update,
I sent emails to both Anschutz USA custom shop and to Manners Stocks, both companies were great and responded very quickly to my questions.
However, Manners is only inlaying their stocks for Anschutz, so as an individual I would not be able to get them to do it. Right now Anschutz is only doing the T6 and in order for it to be cost beneficial to them they need to order a few hundred stocks.
So in short I don't get to get a T4 with an Anschutz in it right now. Anschutz did mention they will be offering some new Manners stocked items in the fall. So while I am waiting I may just pull the trigger on one of the Anschutz GRS equipped stocks

Check out Kelby's rifles they build a versiom of one in their stock that has been worked over by the anie custom shop.

I gotta stop looking at this thread... I think I have talked myself into the vpt. Now where is the best place to find one?

Since you are shooting a GAP and it looks like you aren't scared of spending some cash, you may consider a 40XB,

Send the action to one of the boys in the thread below on 40X repeaters and then drop it in the stock of your choice with a 700 footprint.

Price is a relative thing... LRI and Chad have a reputation of very accurate and precise work that I am sure didn't come without reason. The anshutz 64 in a.t6 is $1700.
