Well I made up my mind to get a new deer rifle. As far as pure custom went, this Dakota was the best value for the money. i saw one at the safari club show and fell in love with it. light, much lighter than my 14# 7mmWSM quick, in my opinion, beautiful. i wanted to go back to a wood stock for this project. They let me pick my stock blank. It has a 24" Douglass Premium match SS 1-8 twist barrel. Jewell trigger 1.5#, It's built on a Dakota extra small action, looks like a Nesika "J" action. The largest caliber they offer is the 6.5 Grendel. I studies up on this neat little cartrige and i'm convinced , with the proper bullet and load, it will get the job done. I haven't shot it yet but if I can duplicate the tset target, I'll be happy. did some loading this morning. I will try to get out, break the barrel in and see if she has promise. These pictures are not real good, inside with flash, much better if done outside with natural light.

Beautiful wood - I would also hate to take that to the woods. I would be afraid of making a mark on it.
