Gunsmithing Dan Ross?

I have seen the bad stuff and read the threads but there must be somebody out there that had good luck with him.

I have spoken with him a few times, at length and he seems like a great guy. He sent me pics of perfect bedding jobs and great looking rifles. But, he wants $2500 down, and an action to get started on an M40A1. That deposit seems high to me. The total build is on par with everyone else so by getting that much up front how much incentive is there to move things along?

I don't know what his build times are, but he built a 300 WSM for a buddy of mine that was a LASER! One hole @ 100 with 178 Amax and was built rock solid. Bedding looked great. I've read the articles as well but the example I saw was top notch!

I think I remember reading a review about that rifle. I didn't find very many which is why I started this thread.

My hybrid M40/24 that he did is GTG.
Still shooting bugholes after many years.
