ai338 has a aac quick disconnect suppressor adaptor on it,,, i have tried my heat gun in case it was loctite and i have tried soaking it in some water in case it was rokset, i am fairly sure it was put on by dallas reloading. it's been a while, i think itried to contact but didn't get thru, i just want to put the aac on another gun but need to get that adaptor off. i don't want to crank too hard on barrel,, i am using polyurthethane jaws in my typical bench vise.

any tips appreciated.

I apply heat with a propane torch while simultaneously applying torque with a wrench, and have never had a problem. This method has worked for me, for suppressor adaptors installed with loctite and rocksett alike.

Does the barrel have wrench flats? I have had to remove an adapter that was stuck on a shot out 338 barrel. I heated up the adapter and used one wrench on the flats and another on the adapter, put it on a table and leveraged the barrel flats wrench against the table and was able to unscrew the the adaptor that way.

The repeated heating and cooling, while shooting, has shrunk the adapter onto the barrel...........
You must over come this.
Dry ice soak on the barrel and heat on the adapter should at least loosen it enough to take it off with a wrench.
Be sure to put a back up tool on the barrel so as to not damage the receiver.
Best of luck.

what about mapp gas or a brazing tip on my oxy/acetylene set up? too hot?
You, the operator, controls the heat.... Regardless of the source..... Could be a 110 volt heat gun, a propane torch, a Turbo Torch or an oxy acetylene rig..... Moderate heat but you must allow the adapter to heat through and through.... Just surface heat won't expand it....

It actually has more to do with the capillary action and lubricity of glycol.
well,, got it off and was looking at it and it is a m18x1.5 metric thread for the AI barrel. damn you AI! all my other guns have normal 5/8 thread and i wanted to put this 338 suppressor on another gun! i am not sure if i can find that aac adaptor.

I'm not confident that AAC made your mount in a 5/8x24 thread pitch
