Gunsmithing DBM Question

I deciced to buy a Remington700P LTR .223 in the H-S stock for the kids to shoot.
I did some searching for a DBM for it but was curious
if any of you had better luck with a different one then

The problem I would have is paying $97 each for additional mags (5 round to boot).
I can't speak for the HS DBM as I have never owned one.
I guess the only real factor is that it says drop in and would not cost to have installed.

I didnt like that price either. But was also wanting to be able to do it my self if it could happen. If not oh well.

I looked at the same thing on Brownells and they say "some gunsmithing may be required".
For probably $350+/- total you could have CDI Precision do an AICS dbm conversion. Those mags are only around $35 each.

My Tikka T3 Tactical is on it's way there for AICS DBM conversion now.
I have never heard anything negative here about CDI.

I'm a little late on this one, but I just got a new HS DBM assembly delivered yesterday so I'll add to it.
I put it in an HS Varmint stock and it was a drop-in, as it should have been. Well, almost a drop-in. I had to remove about 3/8" of stock material for the pivot point of the mag latch to clear. That took about 5 minutes with the edge of a plain old bastard file.
I looked at several of the other DBM systems, but I got the HS because of the mag latch. I put it on a hunting rifle, so I didn't need an extended latch poking me in the back. The rounds don't rattle, they feed slick, and the mag drops free when you push the latch.
I think it'll be fine for my use.
