Back in early '06 I thought I needed a new bang stick (7-08 day dreams were tormenting me) as my .243 Remmy was getting past it barrel wise. Following several failed attempts to procure, Atreeman suggested I reaquaint myself with Mike Norris (Brock and Norris, Riflesmiths to the Rich and Scandelous of Telford)
Having spoken to Mike and discused my ideas with him, he said that he knew of a very nice 5R barrel sitting about doing nothing and that it would do all I wished and more.
Shortly afterwards Mike called to say my nice newly rebarreled thing of joy and wonderment was ready for collection, and to say it shoots is a blinding understatement.
Well time and many Pooh sticks have flowed under the bridge since then, and having hung about when time allowed and showed an interest (and the fact that I'm at a loose end since redundancy struck last month) Mike has very kindly offered to allow me to hang about some more,to peer over his shoulder/get under his feet and generally be a bloody nuisance in his workshop for which I am deeply greatful.
To this end I would just like to say to Atreeman that, the door's open and the kettle's always on mate, for the nudge in the right direction.
And to Mike himself, I hope that I may someday repay the faith you have in me to learn what is needed, and to remember to look outside of the box once in a while.....
Many thanks.
Dave.
