Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Nice Shooting, Joe! Is that the same Marlin you posted a picture of last month?

I missed getting out to the range this weekend, but will have targets up soon.

Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Thanks Mike, and yes it is the same rifle, (Marlin 80DL). Here it is again.
100_0644.jpg

I'm still getting use to it. I like the feel it has as this vintage 1940's rifle gives a person the feel of a full size high power rifle. It's a joy to shoot. To bad Marlin didn't make this a main stay to this day.

Since this picture was taken I've added a sling to the rifle and I think I'll stop there with any other add ons.

Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

If I can get a target posted this month it will be after Christmas.
My printer is giving me fits refuses to print the tacitical target.
Birthdays, appleseed in Billings, and appleseed in Arizona this comming weekend keep me from fireing the SH match.
Sat, in Billings at the end of the day I fired the AQT target twice. once strong side with 232/250 and support side 226/250
With transitions, timed and mag changes.
Just want you guys to know I haven't quit you.

Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Yeah I don't think I'm gonna be able to post this month either. Fine tuning the tacticool stock.

Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Due to a busy holiday season I might not be able to get December's 50-Y TRC shot. Good shooting folks, Franky, the stage-3 group is real nice!

Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

The weather wasn't too bad. I was shooting with the wind to my back at 5-10mph. The temperature was about 20deg.

I think most of my problems today were the failures to extract and eject. It's a problem that I've yet to figure out on my savage.

Thanks for the compliment on the group. This is only the second time I've shot with the Wolf MT ammo. The first time I shot with it, it shot a ~ .30" 5 shot group. I think I've found my new ammo of choice.

Re: DECEMBER SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

temp was around 30c wind was strong with lots of gusts going from right to left.

I am not so sure you missed that. Take a spent 22 casing, center it on the bullet hole, and if the casing overlaps the black dot, it is a hit. It looks like a hit to me.

if you realy want to know if it was touching (i think it was as well franky) see if you can get one of these gauges.

For a busy month, there was alot of shooting going on, at least as what may have been expected during the Christmas season. there where a few new shooters to the comps this month also. A big welcome to 725FRANKY and GREVO.

Aagain Congratulation to CARTER MAYFIELD who again achieved a 250 on the 50Y TRC target.

As the holidays are winding down and a new year begins, let's look to 2011 as the best year yet for the rimfire competitions. By looking back at all the different shooters, I'm sure that when Ol' Man Winter loosens his grip, that 2011 will also be the most active in participants also.

Hope Santa brought you all you wanted, and Happy New Year!
