Is it safe to deep seat a boat tail bullet in a necked case so that a significant portion of the bearing surface is well below the base of the neck and in to the shoulder volume?
(QuickLoad powder 85% of resultant useable case capacity)
The ‘why do that?’ is too multifaceted to bore you with.

Yes, it's safe. It uses up case capacity is the downside. If you case develops a donut then that's a potential problem.

Looking at how deep a 195 eldm sits in a 300wm, yeah, could use some more powder.

Thanks everyone.
It was in relation to my MO of firing new brass before working on it for competition use going forward.
So donut not relevant in this instance, but thanks for the insight.
I use a scrap barrel rechambered, same reamer and headspace as my precious barrel.
