Defense Language Proficiency Test - Arabic

Re: Defense Language Proficiency Test - Arabic

I've taken the test in Korean and if the Arabic battery is anything like the Korean one, I hope you're a native speaker. I've had 2 1/2 years immersed in Korean language studies abroad outside of the military but cannot seem to get a 3/3. What I don't get is that I could go to work in Seoul right now and not speak English for the next six months, but somehow that doesn't translate into whatever criteria the military is using to determine fluency. Go figure.

I'd say study hard, memorize tons of vocab, and hope to God you somehow focused on the right material. You only need a 2/2 to get paid (I think), so perfection isn't mandatory. If you do pride yourself on linguistic skills, don't take the test results personally (like I do).
