How are people degreasing CF barrels before cerakote? I’m gonna try my hand at cerakoting my barrel after getting a sandblaster and was curious if a Simple Green soak would be ok? Or just hang it so only the metal portions are soaking?

Thanks

Spray it down with a green can of non chlorinated disk brake cleaner.

Is that good enough? Every video I’ve watched says soak it for 30min lol
Depends on what you are soaking it in.

Keep in mind that I've never done cerakote.

That said brake cleaner works really well to clean up gun parts. It removes all grease and gunk.

You want to coat the carbon? Are you putting a camo pattern on it? The carbon has voids in it, which will show after coating.

^ what he said.

Common practice is to mask off the carbon, then prep/spray, then remove masking.

Get a nice carbon barrel, and painted metal parts.
