Re: AX338 chamber / 300gr SMK
why not measure it?
close your bolt and then place the cleaning rod down the bore to touch the boltface with the rifle cocked to make sure that the bolt is held against the lugs, Then place a piece of tape across the rod and the muzzle break, next withdraw the cleaning rod around 5" and remove the bolt.
then get your 300gr MatchKing and a piece of wodden dowell or pencil. and slide the projectile into the chamber pushing it home firmly with the dowell, now slide the cleaning rod carefully against the projectile and measure the diffefence between the muzzle break and tape on the cleaning rod and you will be fairly close. if you have Stoney point guages you can do it with them but this will get you there without tools.
Make sure that the rifle is unloaded before starting and that your cleaning rod is flat on the nose you might have to place a jag or other item onto it to give it a clean measuring position othjerwise the projectile might slied into the thread on the rod.
hope this helps. But the CIP mags were designed for the 300gr projectiles so i suspect that you will be off the lands by an amount when loaded to full mag length.
