I about fell over from hysterical laughter when I saw that Delta said "only 13 people bought tickets using their NRA discount". Sure, I believe that

. May be true if the time window for measuring NRA discounted ticket purchases was 2 hours long on any given day. If they were trying to imply that it was over weeks, months, or years, I call complete bullshit. Besides, I kind of suspect that many people (including NRA members) probably just use Travelocity like Online discount flight booking websites and I doubt one would be able to take advantage of the Delta/NRA discount by going that route. If one were to book a ticket via the Delta website, you would probably pay 30% more, then you get your NRA discount of what, 10% ? No two ways about it, you're still paying too much.
Also loved that Georgia shoved their thumb in Delta's eye.....kinda surprised me that the politicians there would have the balls to do so, but good for them. The pols could have faced some pretty serious backlash as Delta is a huge employer there and I'm sure the tax revenue that the state takes in is massive. But again, good for the pols. Delta can posture and threaten to "move out of Georgia", which would be a ridiculous claim. Cost prohibitive and besides, where would they go ? No room at any other major city in the US. ATL is a Golden Goose for Delta. IIRC, it's the US' largest/busiest hub for International flights and maybe also for Domestics. I'm sure all the other large carriers would be salivating over the idea of taking over Delta's footprint @ ATL.
Conversely, Delta rakes in over $1 Billion a year on checked/excess baggage charges that they (and other airlines) never used to charge for. I think that if the truth were to be known, Delta probably doesn't really give a shit about NRA discounts and/or members getting pissed and going to other airlines. In that regard, I think Delta's comment about "honoring the 2A" was simply drivel. They said what they thought they needed to say, for the sake of "damage control". I don't buy it.
